Admissions

Admission Policy

Nexford University’s admission policy aligns with its mission of providing an affordable and rigorous competency-based education to qualified learners, preparing them to succeed academically and move on to rewarding jobs and careers.

All applicants to Nexford’s degree programs are considered for admission based on the information they provide. The University is committed to ensuring equal access to its educational programs for all qualifying learners and does not discriminate.

All documents submitted by applicants are reviewed to ensure compliance with admission requirements. Applicants must have a functioning email account because all application-related correspondence is conducted online. All documents submitted as part of the application process become a permanent property of the University and are not returned to applicants.

Admission decisions are communicated in writing, typically within four business days after required documentation has been reviewed and the application fee paid. The University’s offer of admission remains valid for 30 days and becomes void if not accepted by the applicant within this period. Enrollees who signed their enrollment agreement and made their initial tuition payment are considered to have accepted the University’s offer of enrollment.

The submission of a completed application does not guarantee admission. The University’s admission decisions are final. In the event an applicant is rejected, they are informed of the reason for the decision and the steps required to be reconsidered for admission. All applicants are required to submit the following:

  • Valid government-issued identification

  • Passport-style photo or “selfie”

  • Evidence of English language proficiency (one of the following):

    • A minimum passing score on an approved English qualification exam within the past two years with an official score report submitted during the admission process (see the Minimum Score Required for English Proficiency section).

    • Proof of graduation from an English-speaking institution

Note: Admission Officers may seek supplementary evidence of English language proficiency, such as an email confirmation from the applicant's previous school or a statement on the school's website confirming English as the language of instruction.

Admissions Requirements for Undergraduate Degree Programs

Nexford University’s undergraduate degree program applicants (Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration and Bachelor of Business Administration) must submit:

  • An official high school transcript or its equivalent (e.g., GED or an internationally recognized secondary school qualification) issued by a recognized body or accredited institution.

Admissions Requirements for Graduate Degree Programs

Applicants to Nexford University’s graduate degree programs must submit an official transcript confirming the completion of a bachelor’s degree from one of the following:

  • An accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education

  • An international higher education institution approved by the appropriate ministry of education or recognized country equivalent

  • An international institution whose degree has been evaluated as equivalent to a U.S. four-year bachelor’s degree by a credential evaluation agency that is a member of the Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE) or the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES)

  • An international institution whose three-year bachelor’s degree is accompanied by an official evaluation report verifying its equivalency to a four-year U.S. bachelor’s degree. The evaluation must be conducted by an agency that is a member of AICE or NACES.

Documents not written in English must be accompanied by official translations, such as those provided by a validated institutional official or embassy. If a translated copy is unavailable at the time of application, the Office of Admissions will arrange for the document to be translated before rendering a decision.

Admissions Decisions

All applicants to Nexford University receive written notification of their admission decision from the Office of Admissions. Admission to a program may be granted under one of several statuses, contingent upon the completeness, authenticity, and verification of the applicant’s submitted materials.

Full Admission

Full admission is granted to applicants who have satisfied all University and program-specific admission requirements. This includes the receipt and verification of all official documentation, such as academic transcripts, proof of degree conferral, and, where applicable, credential evaluation reports. Only upon confirmation of the authenticity and sufficiency of all required materials is full admission granted.

Provisional Admission

Provisional admission is extended to applicants who meet the academic requirements for entry but whose supporting documentation is incomplete or pending verification. Provisional admission is further classified into the following categories:

  • Accepted Evaluation Pending (AEP) is granted when the University is awaiting receipt of official academic records (e.g., transcripts or credentials) from the awarding institution.

  • Undergraduate Evaluation Pending (UEP) is granted when the University must assess the applicant’s prior undergraduate-level coursework or equivalent credentials to determine their equivalency to the minimum academic requirements for the selected program.

Learners admitted under any provisional admission status may commence their studies and are permitted to enroll in courses. However, enrollment is restricted to one course at a time until all required documents have been received and verified. All outstanding admission documents must be submitted within ninety (90) calendar days of the learner’s program start date.

Conditional Admission

Conditional admission is granted when the initial admission decision is based on information provided in the application. This status is contingent upon the submission and subsequent verification of specified official documents, such as academic transcripts, diplomas, or credential evaluation reports. The conditions of admission, including a detailed list of outstanding requirements, are specified in the applicant’s official acceptance letter. Learners admitted conditionally are subject to the same ninety (90) calendar day documentation deadline as those admitted provisionally.

Adherence to Admission Conditions

All learners admitted under a provisional or conditional admission status must submit and verify all outstanding documentation within ninety (90) calendar days of their program start date. It is the sole responsibility of the learner to ensure compliance with this requirement. Failure to do so will result in administrative action, as outlined below:

Suspension

Learners who do not satisfy their admission requirements within the specified ninety-day period will be placed on suspension for a period of one term. During this time, they will:

  • be prohibited from enrolling in future courses

  • not receive tuition invoices for the two-month duration

  • not be refunded their initial administrative fee if enrolled in a foundations course

When the required documentation is submitted during the suspension period, the learner will be reinstated within twenty-four (24) hours and resume academic activities at the next term start.

Program Dismissal

Learners who remain non-compliant at the conclusion of the suspension period will be dismissed from the University. Dismissed learners may request readmission upon submission of all previously outstanding documents. If approved, they may resume their studies on the first day of the subsequent month, following completion of the University’s readmission process.

Admission Requirements for Non-Degree Programs

Nexford University offers credit-bearing certificate programs and individual courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Admission requirements for undergraduate non-degree programs are the same as those for undergraduate degree programs, with the exception that applicants may self-certify that they possess the required academic achievement (e.g., a high school diploma or equivalent).

Admission requirements for graduate non-degree programs align with those for graduate degree programs, with the exception that applicants may self-certify that they possess the required academic achievement (e.g., a bachelor’s degree or equivalent).

Non-degree-seeking learners may enroll in a maximum of three individual courses. Learners must meet the admission requirements for their third-course enrollment. Upon successful completion of the third course, learners are required to declare a program of study, as enrollment in a fourth course is not permitted.

English Language Proficiency Requirement

To be considered for admission as English language proficient to Nexford University programs, applicants must complete one (1) of the following:

  1. Submit the following to the Office of Admissions:

    1. Undergraduate applicants: a valid diploma or transcript from a high school, or a General Educational Development (GED) transcript or its equivalent (e.g., HiSET, TASC, etc.) where the language of instruction was English.

    2. Graduate applicants: a valid diploma or transcript from an accredited college or university in the US or its territories or international equivalent where the language of instruction was English.

  2. Demonstrate English language proficiency by achieving a minimum passing score on an approved English qualification exam within the past two years. Applicants must submit an official score report during the admission process (see Minimum Score Required for English Proficiency section).

  3. Proof that the learner graduated from an English-speaking institution.

Note: Admission Officers may request alternative supporting materials to help the University verify the applicant’s English proficiency status. All outcomes based on the supporting materials provided, will remain within the learners’ record according to the University’s records retention policy

Deferral of Admission and Change of Start Date

Personal circumstances may require learners to defer admission. Newly admitted learners may defer their enrollment for up to two months by notifying the University and specifying their intended start date. Learners who fail to meet the course participation deadline based on their intended start date will have their admission rescinded. Any learner who wishes to enroll after this period must reapply (see Reconsideration for Admission and Readmission section).

Reconsideration for Admission and Readmission

Nexford University is committed to transparent communication and policies regarding admission and readmission. This section outlines the procedures and guidelines for applicants and learners who were denied admission and were dismissed from their programs.

Admissions denial

Applicants who were denied admission are notified of the reason(s) why, of the steps they will need to take to reapply, and of when they will be eligible to reapply.

Program dismissal

  • Academic grounds. Learners dismissed for failing to meet the University's academic progress or performance standards are eligible for readmission after a one-month break, unless the dismissal is permanent.

  • Failure to meet course participation deadline. Learners dismissed for not meeting the course participation deadline are eligible for readmission in the next available term.

  • Financial grounds. Learners dismissed for non-payment of tuition are eligible for readmission in the next available term, provided that all outstanding balances are settled.

  • Non-compliance with the admission conditions. Learners must submit pending admission documents within 90 days of their enrollment start date; failure to comply results in a two-month suspension, followed by administrative dismissal if the documents remain outstanding. In exceptional cases, a 30-day extension may be granted if the learner provides appropriate verification or supporting documentation, subject to approval by the Admission Team Lead. Learners dismissed for non-compliance are eligible for readmission in the next available term, provided that all pending admission documents are submitted at the time of readmission.

  • Violation of the University’s learner code of conduct. Learners dismissed for violations of the learner code of conduct may be eligible for readmission after a specified period unless the learner is permanently dismissed from the University. Learners are informed of the reason(s) for dismissal, of any steps they will need to take to be readmitted, and of the timeframe for readmission.

Appeals process

Applicants or learners who wish to appeal against the University's decision regarding their application or dismissal, based on new information, may submit a written appeal to Nexford’s University Review Committee at urc@nexford.edu. The committee’s decision is final.

Readmission

Learners seeking to return to the University must submit a request to the Office of Admissions at admissions@nexford.edu. The process involves the following steps, ensuring alignment with academic and administrative policies:

  • Submission of admission requirements. Returning learners must provide all admission documents, updating any outdated materials to comply with the current admissions criteria.

  • Specification of return date. Returning learners must indicate their preferred date to resume studies for the Office of Admissions to finalize the process and endorse the request to the Registrar’s Office for review.

  • Registrar’s Office review. The Registrar’s Office assesses the learner’s academic performance and payment history to determine eligibility for re-enrollment.

  • Academic standing evaluation. Learners of poor academic standing must agree to a Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) plan as a condition for readmission.

  • Resolution of financial obligations. Outstanding balances must be settled in full prior to finalizing the process.

  • Finalization of enrollment. To complete the readmission process, learners must sign a new enrollment agreement and pay the tuition due for the month of their return.
