Nexford University recognizes that, in limited circumstances, previously completed coursework may satisfy a degree requirement even when a direct Nexford course equivalency cannot be established or when necessary due to curriculum changes. The University may approve a course substitution for eligible transfer credit or previously completed Nexford coursework, provided the substitution maintains the academic integrity and learning outcomes of the program.
Eligibility
A learner may request a course substitution only after the University's transfer credit evaluation process has been completed and it has been determined that a direct Nexford course equivalency cannot be established.
Course substitution requests will not be considered for coursework that is ineligible for transfer credit under the University's Transfer Credit Policy.
Limitations
Course substitutions are subject to the following limitations:

General education course substitutions are limited to a maximum of fifteen (15) semester credits.

Course substitutions may be approved only for general education and elective course requirements.

Course substitutions may not be used to circumvent the University's academic requirements or policies.

Course substitutions are intended to address exceptional academic circumstances and are not an alternative to completing required coursework when a direct course equivalency exists.
Course Substitution Request
Learners requesting a course substitution must submit a completed Course Substitution Request Form together with any supporting documentation required by the University. The completed form and supporting documentation must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office at registrar@nexford.edu for review.
The University reserves the right to approve or deny any course substitution request. Learners will be notified of the University’s decision in writing. Approved course substitutions will be reflected in the learner’s academic record and learning path.
