Academic Calendar

Learners complete their enrollment at Nexford University upon admission and after making their first tuition payment. The academic calendar is based on an approximately eight-week course period (56 days), inclusive of applicable late work provisions.

Transition to the 2027 Academic Calendar

Effective January 1, 2027, Nexford University will transition to a revised academic calendar structure. Under the revised structure, each learner’s academic year will consist of six consecutive terms based on the learner’s initial start month.

The 2026 Academic Calendar above applies to learners with program start dates through December 2026. Learners with a program start date on or after January 1, 2027 will follow the 2027 Academic Calendar below.

Terms Beginning in Odd-Numbered Months

The table below illustrates the six-term academic-year cycle for learners whose academic year begins on January 1, 2027. The same sequence of term dates applies to learners entering the cycle in March, May, July, September, or November based on their respective initial start month.

Terms Beginning in Even-Numbered Months

The table below illustrates the six-term academic-year cycle for learners whose academic year begins on February 1, 2027. The same sequence of term dates applies to learners entering the cycle in April, June, August, October, or December based on their respective initial start month.

Rolling Academic Calendar: Learners may begin their program on the first day of any month. Each learner's six-term academic-year cycle is determined by their initial program start month. Terms occur every two months thereafter, and learners remain on the same term schedule throughout their program. The tables above illustrate the applicable term dates for learners beginning in odd-numbered and even-numbered months.

University Holidays

Nexford University observes U.S. federal holidays. These observances do not affect scheduled term dates, course activities, or academic deadlines.

During observed holidays, all Nexford University online systems remain open and available. Learners are welcome to utilize these systems to continue working in their courses, complete assessments, and contact Success Advisors and course faculty.

Catalog Year

The catalog year at Nexford University runs from January 1 to December 31. Enrollment takes place on the first day of each month. Learners are bound by the program requirements of the catalog year in which they are admitted. Those who choose to change their academic program will follow the requirements of the catalog year in which the change is formally made.

Course Enrollment Timeline

• Courses at Nexford University are open for enrollment through Day 5 of each term. Beginning on Day 6, learners are enrolled in the next available term consistent with their established calendar.

• Once enrolled, courses begin at 12:01 AM Eastern Time on the first day of the month following the enrollment. Learners will gain access to course materials, Module 1, and its assessments, as soon as the course begins.

• Learners are expected to complete their coursework within the standard course period of up to 56 days, inclusive of applicable late work provisions. Eligible learners who require additional time beyond this period may request a two-week course extension, subject to the eligibility criteria outlined in the Course Extension Policy.

University Enrollment Timeline

Learners who are accepted for admission to Nexford University have 30 days from the issuance of their acceptance letter to complete their enrollment. Enrollment is complete upon receipt of the learner’s first tuition payment. New learners are granted preview access to Canvas 10 days before their selected program start date and are encouraged to participate in the NXU Orientation to prepare for their studies.
